Roma defender: I quit fast food to speed up recovery time

Emerson Palmieri has put his successful rehabilitation down to improving his diet.

Speaking to L’Ultimo Uomo, the Brazilian full-back claims that he stopped eating fast food and fizzy drinks as he has recovered from an ACL injury.

The Roma player was a surprise inclusion by Luciano Spalletti, and began to play a central role in the new 3-4-2-1 as left wingback last season, only for his success to be curtailed by his going down in May.

“I eliminated the fizzy drinks and fast food I allowed myself after games,” he said. “Preparation for the game on Sunday begins on Monday.”

“It’s obvious that I’m not 100% yet, it feels like I’m at fifty while everyone else is going at a 1000, but that’s normal.

“I’m still a little shy when it comes to tackling.”
Palmieri went from starting 23 Serie A games last season to becoming one of the many Roma players who have gone down with ACL tears in the last few years.
