Scouting Report: Monaco take Barcelona youngster to replace Mbappe (video)

Monaco have agreed a deal with Barcelona for highly-rated winger Jordi Mboula. Marca reports that the 18-year-old has signed for the club from the principality for a fee €3M. The newly crowned French champions were anxious to drop the price for the youngster but Barcelona insisted that they pay the required release clause on his current contract.

Mboula was one of the Blaugrana’s stand-out youth players last season and with the imminent departure of French wonder-kid Kylian Mbappe, the Monegasque side has moved quick to identify one of his successors.

Born in the Congo but now representing Spain at international level, Mboula signed his first professional contract at the Camp Nou in 2016 having arrived in Catalonia back in 2010. His form at juvenile level has alerted may clubs around Europe but with Monaco’s reputation for giving young players a chance at first-team level, we may now be about to witness the birth of another superstar footballer.
