Seedorf praises Ronaldo and reveals contacts for Real Madrid job last summer

Former AC Milan, Inter and Real Madrid midfielder Clarence Seedorf spoke in a long interview with Marca about various things but mainly about the Los Blancos and his thoughts on what is going on at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Real Madrid without Ronaldo? Cristiano was considered a king in Madrid and was a guarantee for the team. If Cristiano was still in the team, Madrid would have had more confidence but I do not think the results would have been so different," he said.

"Zidane's departure probably had a bigger impact because the work methodology changed. Whoever had replaced him would have needed to be special to have immediate success and overcome the initial difficulties.

"Rumours linking me to Real Madrid last summer? I consider the club my home and, to be honest, I would have accepted the job. There were contacts but the decision was made in a different direction and as a fan, I hoped things would go well.

"I am still young, so I hope to return in the future. It would be like returning home. I already had a similar experience when I was Milan coach, so the feeling would be similar," Seedorf concluded.
