Serie A: Napoli target Matias Vecino thinks Fiorentina can finish second
“AS Roma are a different team under Spalletti”, the Uruguay International told Italian press.
“We are going to the Olimpico to win the game and impose our style. Everyone is very confident after the Napoli game because we played a great first half and we deserved something more [than a draw].”
“All teams are very close to each other on the table and we could even finish second. We want to get a Champions League spot.”
In the meantime, his mentor Maurizio Sarri (who coached him at Empoli last season) still wants to have Vecino at the San Paolo.
Fiorentina do not want to sell the 25-year-old midfielder, while the Azzurri have never offered more than € 12 million to secure the player’s services.
With Vecino’s deal at the Franchi expiring in 2018, Napoli are expected to raise their bid next summer to seal the player’s transfer.
