Serie A spectators on rise: Inter and AC Milan on top, Juve the queen on the road

The Italian Football Observatory has announced the numbers of the first 19 Serie A rounds. The average spectators increased by 3.2% (25,500) compared to the final result of the last championship (24,706). This is the best data recorded in the last five years: +14.8% compared to 2016/17 (22,217), +14.9% compared to the 2015/16 season and +15.5% compared to 2014/15 (22,083).

For the fourth consecutive year, Inter confirms the primacy in terms of spectators during home matches: 62,281 with an increase of 8.3% compared to the final result of the last championship (57,529). In the second place, there is AC Milan with an average attendance of 52.9777, increasing the figure from last season by 0.5%. Juventus are third with an average of 40,020, an increase of 1.8%.

In the first five, there is also Roma and Lazio. For the Giallorossi there is an average of 38,556 spectators at the Olimpico, with a 2.9% increase. Lazio, meanwhile, recorded an increase of 11.6% compared to 2017/18 with 34,603 presences. Other teams such as Fiorentina, Genoa, Bologna and Udinese registered increases, while Sampdoria (-3.9%) and especially Napoli (-24.9%) registered falls in terms of numbers of spectators.

In terms of away matches, Juventus is the team that gathers the highest number of fans. The Bianconeri have occupied a greater number of places than available on trips to Verona, Empoli, Florence, Frosinone, Milan (against AC Milan), Parma, Udine and in the derby against Torino. The sold-out San Siro in Milan on the occasion of the Inter-Milan derby records up to now the top attendance of the season - 78,275 fans.
