Sevilla boss: 'If Andre Silva is called up to Portugal, it is an insult to football'

AC Milan forward Andre Silva has spent the season on loan at La Liga outfit Sevilla and despite a strong start to the season, the Portuguese forward has struggled since Christmas and has spent the last two months out with a supposed injury. However, there is now suggesting that Portugal are considering a call-up for Silva for the UEFA Nations League, despite his injury, suggesting that either the national side are prepared to call-up an unfit player or Silva has been lying to the club about his fitness so that he would not miss the summer's inaugural tournament.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros spoke about Silva:

"We are not stupid. André Silva will not play this weekend and it is a case to be talked about seriously. Let's talk about a guy who did very well in the beginning but then disappeared, especially in the last two months. I ask Portugal, for football's sake, not to call him to the Nations League - it would be an insult to football.

"I think Uefa should investigate his medical reports. How would the Seville fans would react, all the staff technician, managers and our president seeing him in the field with Portugal in June? Regardless of this, however, I believe that the opinion must count of the doctor of the club that pays his salary."
