Sousa opts for China amid AC Milan talk

Former Fiorentina boss Paulo Sousa has been officially announced as the new coach of Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian.

The Portuguese tactician replaces Fabio Cannavaro, after the World Cup winner stepped down from his position having guided the club to promotion last year as well as a place in the Asian Champions League this time round.

Sousa's appointment comes despite recent speculation linking him with the AC Milan post, as noted by Ansa, as he had been touted as a possible replacement for Vincenzo Montella.

However, this now puts an end to that rumour, as he will now begin a new challenge in China after his two-year stint with Fiorentina.

It remains to be seen what Cannavaro opts to do next having begun his coaching career and enjoyed some success, while Sunday's win over Sassuolo would undoubtedly have lifted the pressure on Montella at Milan.

He'll look to secure his job in the coming months by leading the Rossoneri on a good run of form to close the gap on the top four in the Serie A table.
