Spurs to double wages of €40m defender to ward off Man City, United

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to offer Danny Rose a massive raise in order to keep him away from Manchester City, the Mirror (via Fichajes) report.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino believes that the Man United target is a key component of his tactical schemes, and wants to hold onto him for dear life if possible.

The England international was recently the subject of a 40 million probe from Pep Guardiola, who already successfully nabbed team-mate (and right-back) Kyle Walker for 56m on Friday.

The Lilywhites have an idea, however, and that is to double Rose’s salary in order to keep him in London.

The 27-year-old is set to make something like 140.000 a week, which is likely what he’d earn if he moved to the Etihad.

That said, Manchester City haven’t talked to Rose about earnings yet.

Rose only made 18 Premier League appearances last season because of injury, but still managed to score two goals and make three assists in all competitions.
