Swansea join Newcastle and Brighton race for England Under-21 star

Swansea City have joined Newcastle and Brighton in the race for England Under-21 star Tammy Abraham, according to The Argus.

Abraham, who is currently signed on at west-London club Chelsea, has been linked with a loan move to the Seagulls and the Magpies for several weeks now but, despite numerous rumours and speculation, the 19-year-old is yet to sign for a side, as it is thought that he is unhappy with the amount of game time proposed in the deals.

Now the Swans have entered the fray, but a decision will have to wait until after the Camberwell-born player returns from the Under-21s European Championship in Poland.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, confirming the Welsh sides’ interest, said: “We expect any decision will be made once that tournament is over and we will see what he wants to do.

“We have made our interest known and we now wait to see the outcome but we understand it is a big decision for the player to make.”
