Thiago Motta: '2-7-2 is the future formation of football'

Thiago Motta, who is currently the coach of the Paris Saint-Germain Under-19s side, has said that football's main formation will soon be 2-7-2 and he would want to use that.

Motta was recently talking to Gazzetta dello Sport and he revealed that he would want to play a 2-7-2 formation.

He said: The future lies with a 2-7-2. I count 7 in the middle of the field. For me, the attacker is the first defender and the goalkeeper the first striker: the goalkeeper starts the game with his feet, and from the wings, the offensive pressing to recover the ball takes place."
