Tottenham Coach Mauricio Pochettino: "We Are One Of The Best Teams In Europe"

Tottenham Hotspurs Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino was over the moon after having witnessed his team beat the reigning Champions League winners Real Madrid convincingly at home at a packed Wembley Stadium.

The Tottenham manager argued that "This sort of win brings with it certain consequences in terms of making us more visible. It’s something everyone around Europe will have seen. You’ve seen today that Tottenham is a big team, playing at Wembley in front of more than 80,000 people. We now belong not only among the best teams in England, but in Europe, and results like this will show people where we are going."

Pochettino insisted however that the win means nothing if Spurs don't win a title at the end of the season: “We need to understand that we are at a level where we are playing fantastic against the best teams, and to get to the next level we have to win things. Right now, we’re very proud. But this means nothing if at the end of the season we haven’t won a trophy.”

In conclusion the Tottenham coach reiterated that he will not allow himself nor the players to get carried away: "It’s important for everyone to feel very happy about that great victory, but honestly, I also feel happy when we beat Liverpool or Bournemouth. Maybe it’s strange, but I’m thinking about Crystal Palace on Sunday.”
