Transfer news: Barca and Juve target will be sold next summer

According to what has been reported by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Juventus target Matthijs de Ligt will be leaving Ajax next summer. The 19-year-old centre-back is one of the brightest young talents in Europe and is being courted primarily by Barca and Juve, with Premier League interest from Manchester United and Chelsea present too.

De Ligt’s contract with Ajax may expire in 2021 but Mundo Deportivo suggest that after the 30th June 2019, De Ligt may no longer be playing his club football in Amsterdam. Juventus will be looking at De Ligt as the long-term successor for Giorgio Chiellini whilst Barcelona seek a future replacement for Gerard Pique.
