Transfer news: Mbappe reveals how close he was to Arsenal move in 2017

04 December at 18:45
Kylian Mbappe won the Kopa trophy yesterday evening, awarded to the best young player in the world for that particular year. Mbappe helped France win the World Cup, as well as scoring plenty of goals for PSG since making the move from Monaco. Interviewed by France Football after his Kopa win, Mbappe revealed more about how close he was to joining Arsenal when Arsene Wenger was in charge:

“Wenger is a real monument of French football who left Arsenal. I’ve not seen many people in the business praised so unanimously. When the whole of Europe is on their knees celebrating him, it obviously means something.

“A while ago, before I signed for PSG, we were in touch in 2017. I’d chosen a different path, and he didn’t hold it against me. He was a gentleman and wished me good luck.”
