Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has decided to extend Karim Benzema’s contract, if rumours coming from L’Equipe are to be believed.

The Frenchman’s representatives are thought to have met the Merengues’ representatives in the Spanish capital last week to negotiate Benzema’s contract extension.

The former Lyon ace completed a € 35 million move to the Santiago Bernabeu back in 2009, scoring 160 goals in 311 games since then.

Benzema’s  € 8 million a year deal at Real Madrid runs until 2019, though the 28-year-old hit-man hopes to get a pay rise after scoring 26 goals in 30 games this term.

Following Valbuena’s sex tape scandal, Benzema revealed he won’t be part of France’s EURO 2016 team last week.
