OPINION: True Inter fans love Ronaldo

Seeing Ronaldo and José Mourinho back at the San Siro for an Inter game can leave no Inter fan indifferent.

Nerazzuri supporters will never forget this amazing duo, though they paid tribute to the Portuguese tactician who had won the treble back in 2010, while Ronaldo was abused with offensive chants and banners as the Ultras do not forget ‘The Phenomenon’ joined hated city rivals Milan back in 2007.

The Brazilian striker, by the way, will remain in the heart of the majority of Inter supporters, at least the truest and even more than The Special One.

Yes, because while the latter has only shared good times with Inter fans, Ronaldo lived mixed moments of joy and troubles during his time as an Inter player.

Everyone reminds his first season at the club. It was the 1997-1998 campaign and that year he lifted the Balon d’Or ahead of a San Siro showdown against Juventus in which the phenomenon himself was decisive with an assist for Youri Djorkaeff’s goal.

And again, fouled by Mark Iuliano, he was not awarded a clear penalty kick in the return leg against the Old Lady, while he scored the 3-0 against Lazio in the UEFA Cup final played at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

Ronaldo’s troublesome times are also linked with a couple of Lazio games. The 12th of April 2000 he suffered a career-threatening knee injury, while on the 5th of May 2002 he cried after Inter lost the last league game of that season, gifting the Scudetto title to rivals Juventus.

True Inter fans will love the Phenomenon forever.
