Verratti 'has been angling for a move to Real for two years', says journalist
Asked about the Italian midfielder last night, RMC journalist Frédéric Hermel answered that he’s “been negotiating like mad to move to Real for two years now”.
The 23-year-old is reportedly being targeted by the likes of Juventus, but the Merengues would surely be a priority if this report is accurate: “His dream is to move to Real Madrid… I can tell you this, this information isn’t second-hand…. [Verratti wanted the move] even after Ancelotti left!”.
This may go some way to explaining his agent’s recent declarations, claiming that his client wanted to be at a club with Champions League ambitions. Though possessing a star-studded side, PSG didn’t buy any more high-calibre players this summer, the exception considering the last several years.
