Vialli: Why Chelsea are better than PSG

Gianluca Vialli opened up about his time at Juventus, and his thoughts on the current Champions League atmosphere. The last Juventus captain to hoist the European championship laments that the Bianconeri have been able to replicate his success.

This year, he sees eight teams with a legitimate chance to win the tournament. “For this year I see eight teams on the same level: Juventus, Real Madrid, Barçelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City.” He added, “They can win in without a surprise.”

Vialli then explained why he did not include Paris Saint-Germain in that group, despite their big summer acquisitions. “There would also be PSG, which added two phenomenal players. They were my favorite, but now I have a doubt there isn’t much harmony. Without it, you are not going anywhere.”

The former striker then turned his attention to current manager Massimiliano Allegri. “Do I see changes on the horizon? No. Allegri is in another category because he is the best to analyze the situations and make the right decisions there.”

When asked about Juventus’ defeat to Barcelona, he responded confidentiality. “How important is first place in the (Champions League) group? Not too much. Rather, you have to have luck in the drawings.”
