Watford director tells CM: 'We're very happy with Mazzarri, having Italian owners helps'

Things are going swimmingly for former Inter Coach Walter Mazzarri. As if having Watford in eighth place in the Premier League wasn't good enough, the ex-Napoli man also received a rousing endorsement from Watford's Sporting Director, Luke Dowling.

“We are very happy with Mazzarri,” Dowling exclusively told CM.Com at today’s Wyscout forum at Stamford Bridge. “He’s a very good tactician, the players like him a lot”.

“We’re very hard to beat this season”.

    Will Mazzarri stay long?

“He has a three-year-deal, he could remain longer”, Dowling answered.

Asked about Roberto Pereyra, who was brought in from Juventus for XXX at the end of the summer transfer window, Dowling’s eyes lit up: “Did you see the goal he scored against Leicester City? [Yes we did, it was spectacular. Watch it here].

“He’s getting used to a very physical league”.

Pereyra barely played for Juventus last season because of injury, but he has held up well so far in his time with the Hornets.

Dowling went on about the advantages of being owned by the Pozzo family, who also count Udinese among their portfolio. Does the club plan to buy some more stars from Italy, after the likes of Antonio Cassetti and Matej Vydra?

“Having Italian ownership is very helpful. “We’ll see in January. We buy players from all over the world, we don’t have any prejudices about where we sign them from”.

Any offers for his players from Italy?

    “Not at the moment, no".
