Watford lining up a move for Portuguese international keeper

New Watford boss Marco Silva is ready to return to one of his former clubs for summer reinforcements. The Daily Star claims that the Hornets chief is ready to launch an £8M bid for Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio to give competition to current number one Heurelho Gomes.

The 29-year-old Portuguese international played under Silva during his time in Lisbon and has been capped 61 times by his country. The Premier League side are hopeful that their new tactician can tempt the player to set up a reunion in Hertfordshire next term but there are also other candidates.

Current Juventus number two Neto is also in the frame after stating he wants to leave Turin this summer. The 27-year-old Brazilian wants more first-team games and the Bianconeri are willing to listen to offers as they look to bring in Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny ahead of the new campaign.
