Why Inter have put contract talks for Man Utd and Chelsea targets on hold

Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly put contract agreements for Mauro Icardi and Milan Skriniar hold as they feel that the club is spending more on wages than it should.

Skriniar has been a target for both Manchester United and Manchester City over the past few months and Icardi has been a target for Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Inter's stature has grown not just from a sporting point of view, but also from an economic point over view over the past few months. Their season in the UEFA Champions League has helped.

In the first quarter of the ongoing season, revenues have risen to about 40 million euros. But the Financial Fairplay restrictions imposed on them will guard the club against spending above the limit.

The Annual Global Sports Salaries Survey 2018 published by Sporting Intelligence states that Inter have made a big leap in terms of economics. While Juventus are third overall in terms of average salaries, Inter's global rank has risen to 62nd and they're now second in Italy, in terms of average salaries.

It spends 4.1 million euros a year on salaries, a figure that has gone up since the acquisitions of Radja Nainggolan, Kwadwo Asamoah and Stefan de Vrij.
It is believed by Calciomercato that because of these financial numbers, Inter have put contract talks for Icardi and Skriniar on hold.
