Giancarlo Abete responds to the president of FIFA, Blatter, in whose opinion the incidents in the Italy-Serbia match would not have occurred if the game was played in England.

The president of the Football Federation said: "From Blatter we expected some reflection on the referee who led Italy in the World Cup 2002 game." Clear reference to Byron Moreno, who was arrested for selling drugs.

"It would have been better – continued Abete - because that was traumatic. The public and the Federation would welcome a debate on the moral qualities of that official".
