AC Milan change their mind: Gazidis pushing for San Siro exit and new stadium with Inter

Until now, everything was seemingly set for a definite solution regarding the future of the San Siro for both Milanese clubs. However, now there is a twist. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have changed their mind about the modernization of the San Siro. The club's new CEO Ivan Gazidis prefers to build a new stadium in collaboration with Inter.

"The renovation of San Siro announced a few weeks ago is now a plan B, because it would not be easy to use it during the works with a capacity reduced to 40 thousand seats. Milan is thinking of a new stadium, not only for itself. The weight of the investment would be shared with Inter, along with naming rights and sponsorships," the paper wrote.

In essence, there will be a need for further meetings between the two clubs and the municipality of Milan, with the Rossoneri now pushing for the construction of a new state-of-the-art stadium, considering the costs less expensive than those required for the San Siro renovation.

"A new common home for Milanese fans, a star-studded and avant-garde system to envy the Emirates on which he [Gazidis] has ruled for the last decade," Gazzetta dello Sport explains. However, it is not yet known if Inter will also agree to the idea of abandoning the Meazza.
