AC Milan, Gattuso: 'Higuain had back pain, I'm sorry for Bertolacci'

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso spoke to Sky Sport after the Rossoneri 5-2 win over Dudelange on Thursday night.

“We were a bit scared after the draw. You think I am stupid when I say there are no easy games, but that’s the truth. Games must be played before being won. It was important to win. We had a great reaction.”

Jose Mauri? I really liked him, I wanted to start him in place of Bertolacci but in the end I opted not to change three players out of four. We need everybody, I am sorry for the booes of fans against Bertolacci. Higuain? I didn’t speak a lot with him, he didn’t ask to be replaced. Sometimes he struggled to run, he lives for scoring goals. I think he had back pain, he didn’t say anything because he doesn’t like excuses. I know him, I know he strived but he wanted to play.”
