AC Milan hierarchy also in firing line amid early failings

AC Milan hierarchy also in firing line amid early failings

It’s been a disappointing start to the campaign for AC Milan, as their defeat to Juventus at the weekend was their fifth in just 11 Serie A games.

As a result, they’re falling further adrift of their rivals in the race for Champions League qualification places so early in the season, and the pressure is increasing on all at the club.

Part of the issue is that supporters are even beginning to question the money that was spent over the summer, with 11 new players arriving with costs rising by €67 million and wages up €119 million and yet the Rossoneri continue to languish in eighth place in the Serie A table.

With little positivity from the results as a whole, it’s suggested that even executive director Han Li expressed his disappointment with the situation during his visit to Milanello last Friday as it’s not yet November and the Champions League looks like a distant hope.

While Vincenzo Montella will face the brunt of the criticism as coach, neither CEO Marco Fassone nor sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli have been left out as they will have to be held accountable too given their work over the summer.

The ownership expects results having invested so heavily in Milan, and with supporters also beginning to lose faith in the project, it promises to be increasingly difficult for Milan to get back on track as the pressure continues to build.
