AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini receives ‘One Club Man Award’ in Bilbao
Maldini entered the pitch to collect the award alongside former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Jaosé Angel Iribar and a child wearing the Basque team’s shirt. Maldini was praised by the St. Mames crowd, receiving that kind of treatment that his former fans in Italy had never reserved him.
Maldini was booed during his farewell game in 2009 and the club have never gave him a role in the control room which Maldini would deserve for what he did on the pitch.
Former Southampton star Matthew Le Tissier had been awarded last year.
