AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura spoke with Premium Sport after the heavy defeat against Inter in the derby della Madonnina.

"In the second half we were more proactive and we thought that we could win the match. Maybe we were a bit unbalanced but we gave a good performance. I'm sorry for this but I'm fairly satisfied with the performance. Montella told us to press higher up the pitch. In the first half they pressed us high up so we were forced to defend deep. Then we took over the ball possession and they fell deep, this way it is easier to play."

Bonaventura was then asked to comment ont he many individual errors by Milan's players stating that: "We must eliminate these individual errors because these matches are won by those who make the fewest mistakes. With regards to the team, 11 players arrived in the summer and we changed our formation and how we prepare, a difficult start can happen. The team is improving match by match and now we have to improve."

In conclusion Bonaventura was asked to comment on the formation utilized by Montella stating that: "It took a while to get used to it but we suffered a bit in the beginning of last season too. This year the coach is trying to field the formation with the highest quality, so it is up to us to adapt. We have spoken with the coach but he cannot build the enitre team around me and Suso. It is not easy, last season I played a lot of matches in the middle of the pitch but playing in a 4-3-3 always gives us an advantage. Now playing the 3-5-2 we are struggling but these are issues that the coach must resolve. It is not easy to get the new players to adapt, it is difficult to put ourselves in Montella's shoes."
