Napoli’s playmaker Jorginho could be called up to Brazil squad in 2016, the player’s agent has revealed during an interview with the Italia Radio Station CRC.

Having dual citizenship, the former Verona star is eligible to play both with Brazil and Italy. Someone was even expecting his first Azzurri call-up for the imminent games against Belgium and Romania, but Antonio Conte opted for Milan’s midfielder Riccardo Montolivo who’s featuring as one of the best players at his club.

According to the player’s agent Joao Santos, Conte might regret not having called up the Napoli playmaker as the also Brazil’s gaffer Dunga has set sights on him.

“Jorghino is playing on a regular basis at Napoli and he could join both Italy or Brazil”, Santos told the journalists.

“ The General Coordinator of the Brazilian National Team Selection Gilmar Rinaldi told me that they are following him. By the way, Jorinho is eligible to play for whoever will call him.”

“I am Brazilian and I’d prefer him to join out national team, but I don’t know his thoughts about the issue. I only know that the club comes in first place for him”

The 24-year-old agent has also admitted that he didn’t expect any special treatment by Italy’s boss Antonio Conte.

“I understand his decision of calling up Riccardo Montolivo. Every team have pecking order and we respect that. I don’t know if someone from Italy has contacted Napoli to have information regarding Jorginho.”
