Allegri, manager but not too much

    • Gianluca Minchiotti

What Allegri is not like an English manager, because the coach does not have the ability to manage a budget, but it is definitely something more than the traditional role of the coach as it is understood in Italy.

For Allegri, this role is both a statement of confidence on the part of Milan and a great responsibility. As for trust, there is little to say, both Berlusconi and Galliani, a year after his engagement, appreciate the coach for his work and after seeing how his choices have proved apt.

And it comes to accountability, which is a double-edged sword. Take for example the choice of Pirlo: Galliani said on several occasions that Allegri wants a player like Van Bommel in front of the defence. To stay at Milan, then, Pirlo should have 'moved' to another location. But if next season the decision to get rid of Pirlo, in that role, to rely entirely on Van Bommel, would be a mistake, who will have to pay the consequences?
