Arsenal in shock move for Man Utd outcast

As Swedish star Victor Lindelof prepares to finalise his move to Manchester United today, the player whose place he is believed to be taking may be heading to the capital. Sunsport writes that England defender Chris Smalling is wanted by Arsenal as boss Arsene Wenger considers a move for the 27-year-old.

This won’t be the first time The Gunners have shown interest in the player; Wenger was in the frame to take him back in 2010 before Sir Alex Ferguson snapped him up from Fulham to take him to Old Trafford. Since the arrival on the bench of Jose Mourinho however, Smalling has seen his game time diminish with the Portuguese tactician being critical of his desire to want to break back into the first-team.

The England international has two years left on his current deal and wants to hold showdown talks with the Red Devils to see where he stands ahead of the new season.
