Arsenal linked with stunning double swoop for van Dijk and Mousa Dembele

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is preparing for life without Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international looks set to leave The Emirates this summer after stating on Radio Chile Sport on Sunday that he wants Champions League football next season. According to reports in The Express, Wenger will turn to Celtic striker Mousa Dembele to replace Sanchez in North London next term.

The Gunners realise that they must offload the 28-year-old this summer or risk losing him on a free-transfer in 2018. The North London side are likely to collect £50M for any potential sale and it seems Wenger must now have to face the fact that he will not be lining up for the club when the new season kicks off next month.

Arsenal are not keen to sell Sanchez to a rival Premier League side but with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich still waiting in the wings, a deal could well be sanctioned. Now Wenger will turn his attention to bringing in more reinforcements following the capture of Alexandre Lacazette earlier this month and 20-year-old Dembele, who notched 32 goals in 48 appearances for the Glasgow giants last term, is top of the wish-list.

Any deal is likely to cost around £30M and the spending looks unlikely to stop there with reports suggesting that Southampton central defender and Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk is also wanted by the club from the capital.
