Arsenal prepare to lodge improved £35m bid for Monaco star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not giving hope in signing Thomas Lemar as he prepares to lodge a second bid for the Frenchman, according to the Sun via the Hard Tackle.

This time a £35m offer to Monaco, following the Gunners having their previous bid of £28m rejected by the Ligue 1 champions on Wednesday. The 21-year-old helped his side reached to Champions League semi-finals, where they were knocked out by eventual runners-up Juventus.

He was also part of the team that won the French league title in a shock victory, with Paris Saint-Germain coming in second spot, a whole eight points behind their South France rivals.

Last season was only Lemar’s second year at the Stade Louis II but he, despite the abundance of talent on offer at the side, made an astounding 55 appearances for the club, with an impressive 14 goals and 17 assists to boot.

Now, with Alexis Sanchez reportedly heading to Manchester City, Wenger is need of an attacking strike-force who can bag goals, and Lemar, who Wenger has had his eye for two years, looks like a suitable purchase for the North London side.
