Arsenal star reveals: I could have joined Everton

Olivier Giroud has spoken once again of the possibility he had of joining Everton.

Having already made the revelation last month, the Arsenal outcast delved further into the subject on the Canal Football Club,

The Frenchman has scored 100 goals across all competitions for the Gunners and, while he still has a prime role with France, he is seen as a commodity that needs to be shifted by Arsenal fans.

Yet the French didn’t quite follow the path set out by Wayne Rooney, who also moved to Goodison this summer, explaining that he “had the opportunity to leave. I was very close to another English club -- Everton -- but I think I made the best choice.”

Speaking to the Canal Football Club, he also revealed that French clubs Marseille and Lyon were also interested in him.

"I have a lot of respect for Marseille, I was a fan for years.

“I also have a lot of respect for Lyon, who were also interested at one time. I didn't want to return to France. I'm happy in England, it's nothing against those clubs. But a return to France is possible one day."

The 31-year-old would be needed by Everton, whose Coach, Ronald Koeman, is rumoured to be in the firing line after struggling early this season.
