AS Roma ‘closing in’ on Man City defender

Roma are closing in on the signing of Alexandar Kolarov from Manchester City, according to a report of La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The giallorossi need to sign one new full-back and the Serbian star is reported to be one of their summer transfer priorities alongside Torino’s Barreca.

Kolarov, a former Lazio star, will turn 32 in November and AS Roma don’t want to splash to much cash for his signing.

Manchester City are open to sell the player for € 6 million, whilst AS Roma want to sign him for a fee not exceeding € 5 million. There is not too much gap between offer and demand and the two parties could finalize a deal in the coming hours.

Kolarov is the no. 1 alternative to Torino starlet Barreca who is the top transfer priority of the Serie A giants but is believed to be too expensive for AS Roma’s finances.

Kolarov swapped Lazio with Man City for €22 million in summer 2010.
