Atalanta deny that Chelsea and Inter target is going to Milan

Atalanta have denied that they’ve reached an agreement with Milan over Andrea Conti.

Recent reports indicated that the two sides had agreed to a five-year, 10 million deal for the 23-year-old winger, who scored eight goals and made five assists last season.

Also targered by Juventus, Chelsea, Inter and Liverpool, the youngster has done well enough to be called up to Italy’s latest squad.

Agent Mario Giuffredi confirmed this, saying yesterday that

“I met representatives of AC Milan yesterday and we reached a total agreement. The two clubs are on very good terms and I think there won’t any problem [to reach an economic agreement between them].”

Yet Atalanta president Antonio Percassi doesn’t agree in the slightest, telling Premium Sport: “I don’t know why they’re saying this, because Conti belongs to Atalanta.

“His agent says that only Milan want him? He can say what he wants. Conti grew up at Atalanta and became a better player there. If he’s with the national team he needs to thank Atalanta and the Coach [Gasperini] for how we’ve treated him.

“We’ve always behaved well with him and who has represented him.

Percassi then said that “if Massimiliano Mirabelli [Milan’s sporting director] wants to come to talk about Conti he’s welcome to, but we have to start from the notion that he is unsellable. We haven’t evaluated an eventual Conti sale.”

Giuffredi hasn’t taken things lying down, however, claiming on Sport Italia that “Conti will go to Milan. The two sides agreed to the deal last year”.
