Kalidou Kolibaly is not the only defender on Antonio Conte’s Chelsea shortlist. As we’ve previously reported, the Blues have set sights on the partenopei left-back Faouzi Ghoulam who is negotiating a new contract with the Serie A giants.

Atletico Madrid are also looking for reinforcement at the back and have also added the Algeria International to their shopping list, so much so the LaLiga giants’ director of sport Andrea Berta scouted 25-year-old defender during last Friday’s Napoli v Inter clash.

Napoli have recently met the player’s entourage offering a new € 1.8 million-a-year deal until 2021. The player has yet to agree to terms and put pen to paper on a new deal,  but he’s likely to sign a new contract pretty soon as he’s on very good terms with the Serie A club. Meantime, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid keep monitoring him.
Ghoulam will play the African Cup of nations with Algeria national team next month.
