Average attendances : Inter the only Serie A club in Europe’s top 20

Inter are the only Serie A club among Europe’s top 20 clubs ranked by average attendance. German clubs are confirmed as the best ones in terms of attendance in the old continent with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the first four positions, spitted by Barcelona and Manchester United.

Bundesliga sides are definitely benefitting from new stadiums built in 2006 to host the world cup, but Germany’s policy of keeping tickets’ prices low is definitely helping clubs to register stunning attendance figures.

Borussia Dortmund sell the 99.8% of tickets each Sunday with an average attendance exceeding 81.000. The Old Trafford and Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena are also very likely to be sold out each time the Red Devils and the Bavarians play at home, whilst Inter might be overcome by West Ham and Liverpool that have recently increased their stadiums’ capacity. The Hammers, actually, have just swapped the good old Boleyn Ground with Stratford’s Olympic Stadium.

Unlikely Germany, Italy’s insufficient policies in terms of ticket sales, sporting culture and stadium maintenance make the Bel Paese one of the less-developed European countries when it comes to watching games from stadiums.
