Barcelona director travels to Leverkusen to scout Liverpool target

Barcelona have been scouting Bayer Leverkusen players regularly this season, including Liverpool target Julian Brandt.

The winger appeared to be very close to a move away from Leverkusen this summer, with Bayern Munich particularly interested and Inter known to be admirers, as well as Juventus.

Brandt has opened the current season by scoring twice, and netted a total of nine Bundesliga goals two seasons ago for the Aspirins.

Curiosly, Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez and Urbano Ortega both went to watch Bayer’s entertaining game with Wolfsburg on Sunday.

The Liga has been signing players from Germany more often of late, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Toni Kroos all moving from the BuLi to Spain.

Barcelona were also watching the very promising Jonathan Tah, as well as full-back Leon Bailey.

The Catalans have a large transfer kitty after not spending all of the €222 million they got from PSG in the summer for Neymar.
