Barcelona make their first signing of the summer after snapping up Brazilian ace

According to Fox Sports Brazil, new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has made his first signing of the summer after picking up Santos midfielder Lucas Lima. The 26-year-old will arrive at the Camp Nou on a free-transfer in December at the conclusion of the Brazilian championship although the club have yet to confirm a deal has been done.

Lima has 14 caps at international level and his dream move to Europe has been sponsored by his international team-mate Neymar who has reportedly convinced the Catalan giants to take a chance on the player. Lima is also the former boyfriend of Neymar’s sister Rafaella and his father is also the player’s representative in the negotiations.

Valverde is searching for midfield reinforcements with Spanish legend Andres Iniesta now entering the twilight of his career. The most high profile chase is undoubtedly that for Italian Marco Verratti but the new boss wants to be able to give Iniesta the optimum amount of rest next season and needs cover in his central areas.
