Barcelona open talks with versatile Chelsea star, Real Madrid target

Barcelona have set their sights on Cesar Azpilicueta, according to AS, and have opened talks with the defender.

As their interest in Hector Bellerin looks to be going nowhere - the Blaugrana like the looks of the Chelsea defender, who has shown great versatility in playing all across the defender at Stamford Bridge, enough to attract Real Madrid, too.

Sporting director Robert Fernandez has already begun talks and is being updated on Azpi’s situation. The Cules’ new Coach, Ernesto Valverde, is very enthusiastic about the 27-year-old, who has played 38 games all season in Premier League action, scoring once and making four assists.

Valverde had already requested the Navarrese native when he was an Osasuna player, and Barcelona generally like his ability to play in the middle. His deal currently expires in 2020.

A recent report from Don Balon revealed that Chelsea were willing to negotiate, even though they prefer to keep the former Osasuna man, who cost them a measly £7 million back in 2012.
