Reports from Spain state that Manchester United have had a £31M bid for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, rejected by the Catalan side. Catalunya Radio (via TEAMtalk) states that the 23-year-old, who has had a difficult first season at the Camp Nou, has been told by new boss Ernesto Valverde that he will figure in his plans for next season and that he wants him to stay at the club.
 

His opposite number at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho, is a huge admirer of the player as he looks to revamp his squad ahead of an assault on the Premier League title next season. With the arrival of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic now looking likely after the Serbian reportedly agreed personal terms on a move to Manchester, the Portuguese tactician has his eyes firmly fixed on Gomes but it seems he will face great difficulty prizing him away from his current employer.
