Catalan giants FC Barcelona have released an official statement about the injury suffered by Sergi Roberto during the club’s goalless draw against Olympiacos yesterday.

Barcelona missed the opportunity to come a step closer to qualifying for the knockout round of the Champions League, as Juventus too were held to a 1-1 draw against Sporting Lisbon.

Roberto was substituted in the dying embers of the first half against the Greek opposition as Gerard Deulofeu took his place on the pitch. Barcelona, in their official statement about the Spaniard’s injury, mention that Roberto is suffering from a “tear in the hamstring of the right leg.”

The statement also reveals that the 25-year-old will undergo further tests in order to know more about the extent of the injury that he has suffered. The Barcelona dressing room though, is convinced that the injury isn’t a serious one.

The injury doesn’t come at a good time for the Spanish star, who seemed to have become a regular part of Ernesto Valverde’s side. More so, Roberto was also set to earn a selection for Julen Lopetegui’s Spanish side which will take on Costa Rica next week.
