Barcelona target tells Arsenal he wants to leave
Mundo Deportivo write that the 22-year-old full-back has spoken to Arsene Wenger, telling him that he wants a return to his formative club, and that such a transfer would be very profitable for the Gunners.
Wenger is adamant, however, that the Spanish international isn’t going anywhere. He sees the youngster as a central feature of his new project, Arsenal signing Alexandre Lacazette and making a big bid for Thomas Lemar of Monaco.
Barcelona have been chasing their former academy product for a while, but were recently frustrated by their inability to sway Arsenal. Coach Ernesto Valverde, who had identified the full-back as one of his priorities, found that the Gunners were taking too long, and looked to have given up.
The Liga giants are want to reinforce the right-back position, which is one of their main weak spots.
