One of the greatest baseball players of all time and Hall of Famer, Mike Piazza is also the owner of Serie C side AC Reggiana 1919. Today, via Twitter, Ted Philipakos announced that he will join the club as the new CEO.

Mr. Philipakos is the former CEO of Venezia FC, who were promoted to Serie B this year. He left his role at Venezia, along with at least one other employee after securing promotion for the team owned by American owner Joe Tacopina. Mr. Philipakos was CEO when Venezia hired Italian legend ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi, who remains their manager today.

“Back to Italy. I’m set to join AC Reggiana 1919. I’d been consulting there, now stepping in as CEO for the rest of the year 1/4,” he wrote on Twitter. He continued, “After a run to the semis in the promotion playoffs last year, team’s had a rough start, now 11 points back. Have to rebuild. Hope you’ll follow along: @AC_Reggiana1919 (English feed coming soon). Should be fun. And, yes, as a Queens guy and lifelong Mets fan, working with Mike is kind of weird. 4/4”
