Bernardeschi on Astori death: 'I can't eliminate the pain that's inside me'

Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi has said that his former teammate and late Fiorentina skipper Davide Astori gave him a lot and improved him as a player during his time at La Viola.

The bianconeri players, especially Giorgio Chiellini laid a fitting tribute to the late Fiorentina skipper and defender during Juve's trip to Florence. Juve picked up a convincing 3-0 win over the men in violet to keep their unbeaten run going.

Bernardeschi was talking to an event called 'Christmas, Waiting for' recently and he was interviewed there about Astori, who had played with him during his time at the La Viola.

He said: "Astori's mourning? It's something very personal, everyone elaborates it in their own way. I had the good fortune to know him and to exchange an emotion with him.

"I made a prayer for him when he left. I can not eliminate all the pain that remains inside of me. He was a friend and an important person, Davide really gave me so much and he improved me.

"We are ordinary people who are exposed to criticism and we also have our weaknesses. We are human beings. We do a privileged and well paid job, and it's wonderful because we give emotions to those who come to see us."
