Branchini: "Carlo Ancelotti turns down Italy job"

Noted agent Giovanni Branchini has excluded the possibility that former Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti will take over the reigns of the Italian national team after Gian Piero Ventura.

In an interview with Radio DeeJay Branchini stated that: "I feel that this opportunity should be excluded. Carlo respects everyone but does not feel like acceping the offer of taking over the vacant Gli Azzurri job."

Although no confirmation regarding this has come officially from the FIGC, Branchini is one of the more respected agent's in Italy and his statement will surely add further pressure on the already under fire President of the Italian FA, Carlo Tavecchio.

If Ancelotti were to confirm directly to Tavecchio that he is not interested in taking over the vacant Gli Azzurri job, then that would be another severe blow ahead of the important meeting this coming Monday at 12.00 pm CET where Tavecchio is expected to present his future plans to restore Italy's former glory as a national team.

Should Ancelotti turndown the job, the favorites are Guidolin, Juventus coach Allegri but above all Zenit St Petersburg manager Roberto Mancini who could take over from June where Italy U-21 manager Luigi Di Biagio would act as a caretaker coach until then.
