Breaking: Big-spending Milan under FFP invesigation

Milan’s Financial Fair Play situation is getting very complicated.

According to the ANSA press agency, UEFA have sent the Serie A big-spenders a letter asking for clarification on a number of points.

Though we’re not exactly sure what has been asked, this jars with the “lukewarm optimism” Marco Fassone had spoken about on Thursday, before the Rossoneri’s report was published.

Milan spent over 200 million this summer buying stars like Ricardo Rodriguez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Leonardo Bonucci, Franck Kessie and Andrea Conti, but have so far earned nothing more than seventh place in the table for their efforts, and a Coach (Vincenzo Montella) on the chopping block.

UEFA’s Financial Body obviously has questions about the four-year plan that was presented by Marco Fassone, the Rossoneri’s managing director and one of the two main architects of the big summer spend.

These requests from UEFA come only a few days after a New York Times investigation put new owner Li Yonghong’s actual liquidity in serious doubt.
