Breaking: Liverpool reject £72m Barcelona bid for Coutinho

Liverpool have rejected a huge offer for Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, according to reports from the UK.

The Liga giants are looking for an alternative to star forward Neymar, who is said to be very close indeed to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

They bid £72 million for the Brazilian, who is well-liked at Barcelona, with some of the Blaugrana players even lobbying for his signing a few months ago.

Speaking ahead of a Premier League Asia Trophy clash with Leicester City, Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp claimed that the Reds were never going to consider selling their man.

"Yes. But not since this morning, it's not been different at any time,” he confirmed at a press conference.

“We didn’t lose players we wanted to keep that’s very good – the best news. I expect a lot of progress based on experience from last year.

The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals and made seven assists in all competitions for the Reds.
