Breaking: Man City meet Spurs' €56m asking price for defender

Manchester City are ready to pay £50 million (€56m) for Tottenham Hotspur star Kyle Walker, according to the latest reports.

This is what the Sky Blues have been asking for the right-back, leading Telegraph reporter Matt Law to claim that they are “on the verge” of signing him.

Walker, who is also liked by Bayern Munich, was initially the subject of a £40m bid from the Citizens, who are looking for an alternative to Pablo Zabaleta.

Law claims that Walker is set to become the most expensive defender ever signed, alongside David Luiz.

City were initially interested in signing Dani Alves, but the Brazilian jilted them to move to PSG instead.

The 27-year-old wants to move closer to his family in his hometown of Sheffield, and the Mirror claimed last month that he told friends that he was moving to make the move soon.

The 27-year-old made a total 52 appearances last season for club and country, making five assists.
