Carlos Tevez: ‘River-Boca in Madrid? Bizarre!’

The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final, in which Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate will meet for the trophy, is set to take place in Madrid on Sunday evening; after the initial clash was postponed amid issues caused by River Plate supporters attacking the Boca team bus. This decision has attracted a lot of attention and commentary but was inevitably decided upon as the best way to bypass any potential security issues.

Former Manchester United and Juventus forward Carlos Tevez, who now plays for Boca Juniors, spoke ahead of the clash, explaining his surprise at the location of Sunday’s final:

“It will be a strange ending, I think it's important to stay focused on the race because when you play a Libertadores final here, a River-Boca in Madrid, it's bizarre.”

The first leg finished 2-2, with Boca twice taking the lead but River Plate equalising both times, in a tight game that Boca perhaps edged slightly.
