Former Real Madrid star Predrag Mijatovic has been speaking ahead of Saturday’s Champions League Final showdown in Cardiff. The 48-year-old, who scored the winning goal in the 1997 final was in no doubt that he thought his former club would come out on top against Juventus at the Millennium Stadium this weekend.

He explained that; “Juventus has the trauma of having played in eight finals of the Champions League and losing six of them. Real on the other hand, have won all five they have appeared in since 1993. Allegri’s team has done well to reach the final by beating Barcelona and they deserve respect as they are tactically sound in defence and have front men good enough to decide the game at any time”.

“It could be the last chance for players such as Chiellini and Buffon to win the trophy but for me Real Madrid has the best squad so if you want a prediction, I’ll go 2-0 for Real”.

The conversation then moved on to the subject of whether Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon could actually win the Ballon d’Or this year. Mijatovic replied; “There seems to be this campaign on part of the Italian media and the truth is that he has played a crazy season and he deserves the respect of everyone. I don’t know if this is enough to win the Ballon d’Or; I believe Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite”.
